99 Octy windows/locking problems

Featured Replies

Afternoon All,

This is a post on behalf of my Sister in law......

She runs a 99 Octy Estate with central Locking (not remote) and electric windows all round.

2 issues which i think may be related. When unlocking the car from the drivers door, the key mechanism is quite slack and occasionally all the windows will wind down a touch when unlocking the car, i think this is probably because the mech is slack enough that it is getting to the point where the auto open feature is being activated.

This is annoying but not life threatening more of an issue is occasionally when this happens the rear driver side window carrys on all the way down even after the key has been removed, and then refuses to go back up either on the button on the door or the one on the drivers door.

Any idea what might might be causing this? It had a new drivers side door servo last year as this packed up and would only open the drivers door, i assumed the slack key mech would have been resolved at the same time but apparently not. Ideally can the auto open/close feature be disabled without the need for a VAG.com which i don't have for this car.

Cheers Peeps
