Anyone who has vagcom and the correct cable to read a fabia 51 plate near peterborough/spalding please?

What exactly do you need? It's only £6 for a cable and VCDS lite is free, while it has a few limitations it's probably going to be quicker/cheaper and long term a better investment.

will that read the ecu to see why the engine management light is on?

Yes it will, all you need is a laptop/netbook running XP or later. eBay or Amazon and search for VCDS. eBay item 330753371108 for example but use whoever you prefer.

It would be nice if there was a link to the cheap cable and the more expensive one, and nice to know if the vcds full version would work with the cheap cable
