I refitted the summer 16" moon alloys ,fitted with 205/55/16 contis, today.

Replacing the same size VW steels fitted with winter contis + RIF wheel trims.

Out of curiosity I weighed the different wheels on our bathroom scales.

They weighed.........

The same , at just under 3 stone each ( 41 ibs.)

I always thought one of the advantages of alloy wheels was that they are lighter?

Škoda (& probably most VAG) OE .alloys are very heavy

Thanks for that. That confirms what I thought all along, that the alloys were the same weight and there is no weight saving having the expensive OE alloys. :lol:

I thought of storing my spare set on summer/winter changeover in the loft. After I picked one up I thought again!
