right this may sound like a really stupid question so i apologise in advance but i cant find an answer in searh

do you have to cut a hole out the round cup holder section?

do you need to take the mounting bracket off ( oem one) and mount it from there

as my bracket sits at diffrent heights and doesnt sit flush anywhere to mount correctly

If its the same as the MK4 Golf armrest then you need to remove the bottom bit of the bracket before it will fit, it feels like it doesn't want to come off but it will if you pull hard enough or pry it off with a screw driver.

it then should sit flush in the hole and you then screw into the plastic cover on the arm rest
