Rust bubbles on boot - Body Protection Warranty

Featured Replies

I have very small bubbles in the paint on my boot which appears to be rust from the inside, there is rust underneath where the boot popper is on each corner, underneath the number plate AND the spoiler laquer has peeled :(

I was just going to get the spoiler repainted but I'm beginning to think that I might as well get the whole boot done.

But i've come across threads about the Skoda Body Protection Warranty. Link to it here on page 6. I've been thinking today about heading up to my local dealer - Mitchell Cheshire Oaks and seeing if they will send a report to HQ?

Do you think i've got a leg to stand on? I hasn't been serviced with Skoda for years, it's either been independents or myself and I bought it privately! But it's 04 so still within the 12 years.

The warranty only states

"Body Protection Warranty. All new ŠKODA vehicles

are fully protected during manufacture against

corrosion emanating from inside the body panel for

12 years from the date of first registration. The only

preconditions are:

> The defect must be reported to a member of the

ŠKODA authorised network as soon as it is discovered.

This must, of course, be within the warranty period.

> The perforation must not have been caused originally

by damage, neglect, insufficient care or maintenance,

or by external rusting.

> All body repairs will be carried out promptly in

accordance with the manufacturer’s technical

guidelines, using only approved parts and

materials, in order to maintain the original

level of anti-corrosion protection."

Anyone got the same/similar issue and had any luck?

** It's actually 10 years for the Fabia based on this page

ive been thinking about it too but lets be fair on a 9 year old car youll get fobbed off

I'm just back from my local dealership (Arnold Clark, Inverness) with various patches of rust that have appeared over the winter, mostly under the sills and wings.

They have taken photos to send to HQ to be examined and to see if I qualify. Annoyingly I forgot to point out the bubbles near the number plate :wall:

I've been told that I should hear back from them within a couple of weeks.

Seemingly it has nothing to do with mileage (although a photo was taken of the odometer) and is ONLY to do with the age of the car - so, fingers crossed I get a respray!

10 years on the 04 plates, I have an 04 Octavia and just had the boot replaced. Just go ask them, or call first and explain. Depth checks, photos, and wekks of waiting. Skoda have a great reputation for warranty claims so you have nothing to lose really. Just be sure it hasnt been repainted ever in the past.

Hasn't been rubbing on the back bumper has it? My old car had some

minor rust there for that reason.
