3 hours to wash, polish and wax....

Featured Replies

... and not the sun has gone in and it's really overcast, typical!

I also haven't washed a car in this much detail for a number of year (since owning my old 2.0L Corsa) and I forgot how much hard work it can be.

In saying this, I'm really disappointed in my paintwork of my new (to me) '06 fabia. Lots of tar spots, stone chips and a spot of rust on the top of a door. Would detailers be able to sort this kind of thing out or am I looking at respraying the patches that aren't right?

I thought with most waxes and polishes, you shouldn't do it direct sunlight anyway?

As it's nice outside, I think I'll wash mine this weekend too

By the time I got to the polishing and waxing it, the sun was fading

I spent a good 3 hours this morning cleaning, waxing etc. And the same as you i have so many stonechips on the bonnet its unreal..its only because the car has sat on the motorway all its life..but it can be annoying :D

I've had this a week and I believe it had done the M6 many times before my ownership. I will however be keeping it on the motorways for work too, you simply cannot win with the paint work I guess.

Mine hasn't been washed since October. Just haven't had time or weather. Wish I could clean a car in 3 hours. I'd need to start at 9 and I'd finish at about 5 with the state it's in. Claying takes ages

I'd happily pay for someone to clay mine haha

The rain has finally arrived and i'm looking out of the window at the water beading on the roof :) happy camper!

I spend on average two hours every week on mine, its always shiny and lovely.

Did myn today took rufly 3-4 hour but did the inside aswell as paint work its good hard work but its worth it in the end pejuzapy.jpg

this is what has annoyed me though, I haven't been able to take it out and snap a few shots of it because of the sodding rain :(

I can easily spend all day too :)

Last tiem I did it was something to the tune of 6 weeks ago. two buckets method, all AutoGlym care products and finished with HD wax - just checked as it is raining nicely here and water is beading nicely after all that time and being washed twice along the way. AutoGlym HD wax was £45 well spent!

Question (probably should be in the detailing section), Can I use Extra Gloss Protection (http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=K&Range=1) on HD Wax (http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=LGG&Range=1) which was applied to Super Resin Polisch ( http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=LGG&Range=1 ). Car was wahsed with Bodywork Sahmpo Conditioner (http://www.autoglym.com/enGB/product-proddetail.asp?v06VQ=LGG&Range=1)

Yh lol i hate it the most.... ONly thing i hate more is when u jump in it just after a good wash and wak the window down and up and it ruins a nice clean window loll

In answer to your question...`Extra Gloss Protection` is a `sealant` and should be applied BEFORE a wax and not the other way round.

Will thin about it Chris, would be good to get it sparkling for the 1st of June track day (see my sig).

Just read it ends with the month...

Officially ....but will still take bookings by PM ;)

I read your thread last night in much detail and did actually google your location but your just to far away to come over, donate the money for your services but enjoying the results will be minimal as it's motorway journeys on the way back.
