Fixed my sticky wipers but...

Featured Replies

Following an older guide on here by someone (Mbanes I think) I fixed my sticky wiper linkage. Thanks to whomever wrote that several years ago ;-)

Anywho, after fixing the wiper linkages the wipers don't seem to be in the correct place. The drivers side wiper overwipes and goes slightly over the windscreen seal either top or side. The non-driver side isn't too bad but looks very odd given the position of the drivers side wiper. Is it possible I've reassembled it wrong? I tried it every way it would reassemble and still work

I suspect you will need to pop out the assembly and motor.

Disconnect the motor, re-align the linkage (iirc, make it as 'flat' as possible), connect the motor and put it back together again. Not sure if I have any pictures to help though :-(

Thanks Mbames...I think I tried that but I may have to give it another go. Its okay for the moment so when I get more time I'm going to give it another go.

Do you have any method of getting tghe whole linkage out easier? I really struggled to get it in and out every time.

I don't recall having any problems removing the linkage, I last had mine out about 16 months ago.

After taking the wipers and scuttle panel off, then it was a case of 3 screws and disconnecting the loom. I think it sort of rolls/twists out.

good luck!

Had a quick read of the service manual and it appears I didn't think to try and roll the assembly forwards and out. Ah well I'll try that next time.

Thanks for the pictures on your site btw :) Not the first time i've used them to help me do something. Genuinely more useful than the Haynes guide.

Take wiper arm off and refit. Is on a spline so a bit of wiggling required!

Thats not the case, the whole linkage is in the wrong position so the lever is acting different to normal. My wipers are wonky to each other!
