Hi people .. Looking to top up my gearbox oil I replaced the reverse light switch and lost quite abit. ( idiot I know ) could anyone upload any images of where I can top up the gearbox oil thankyou

IIRC you need to remove the battery to top up the gear box oil. I may be wrong.

im looking at changing the gearbox oil ocmpletely so this will come in handy, any advice for that while the post is here? Or is sthis something that needs a seperate post ?

The plugs can be different - you need to look and see - we've two Fabias and one is starry and the other as shown.

The filler can be incredibly tight so tool must fit well and strong safe supports needed.

If you change the oil (rather than top up) and if its not been done for a few years then I would, remember to undo the filler port first. I know someone who undid the drain then couldn't budge the filler leaving him with no fluid. Not a great situation to be in but funny at the time

make sure you use the right grade oil, I know the VRs gearboxes are very fussy and suffer with stiff gearbox unless the proper skoda oil is used
