Oil Temps

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone else seems to have the same issue, or can help me out here....

On maxidot, it seems to take quite a whole for the oil temp to register on my car. On the gauge under the rev counter, it will register in the middle as 90 degrees after a short while of driving depending on the outside air temperature, however the maxidot seems to take a while to catch up in a sense, and register the temp.

Just interested to see if anyone has also found this/know why.

Ben.

Water warms up quicker..

I tend to find that once I've noticed its up to 90 degrees on the water temp gauge, then flicking to the oil temp it starts to register shortly after (about 4 or 5 miles normally; longer in cold weather).

Oddly enough, when it was very cold and I'd leave the car idling for a few minutes to de-ice it, the oil temp was registering before it reached 90 degrees..

Ones water temp and maxidot is oil.

Oil is the important one really.

Ahhh I see! My mistake then!

Learn something new everyday...

The oil temp first registers at 50*oC, and at around 7 degrees ambient temperature that takes me 5-6 miles before it happens.

& over 10 miles before it gets to 88*oc.

george

14 miles/20 minutes and the oil only got to 83*oC indicated.

(must have been driving like a Granny once again!)

Apparently the water temp gauge is going to be dropped soon and skoda will replace it with an "oil-consumption-ometer" just for the vRS. Will display how many litres/mile the engine is eating..... ;-)

Funny you should say that, I've just had a tip off that shell garages are gonna have an extra pump installed at their stations with castrol edge 5w-30 in for vRS drivers to use when they fill up!
