vRS TDI Alternator rattle

Hi ya

Folks, I have the noisiest alternator going. It's rattling constantly on idle but the ratty does go away as the revs climb, or when there is load on it.

The alternator is still putting out a good charge so it's working. Does anyone know what the cause is? Is it the bearings? Can they be replaced separately or is it new alternator time?!?

The alternator pulley has a clutch in it, you can just replace the pulley but you need a special tool, I got the tool off ebay for a few quid.

EDIT: Not saying these are the correct parts so you would need to double check but a quick ebay search to give you an idea:
