converting electric seats

Featured Replies

Ive just managed to get hold of a full leather interior for my superb 2 for a good price only problem is the new front seates are full electric and mine are manual. Just wondered if I can mout the seates on my old runners and use the manual controls any ideas as converting to electric would be a nightmair. Only asking as I cant compair as not been deliverd yet and dont want to waist my money

Is it that much of a nightmare? Surely, all you'd have to do is supply two fused feeds with wiring and fuses of the right capacity.

That would be the problem no idea how to go about that any help please

Do you have any wiring going to your existing manual seats? Do the manual seats have airbags and weight sensors for seatbelt warning?

If not, then you could just fit seats without any wiring. If yes, I would suspect that the wiring is the same and has the same connectors, although you'll have to check this.

If the seats do have airbags, obviously be careful in removing and fitting. Allow time to drain after disconnecting battery and also wear an anti-static strap when handling connectors. In addition, keep away from airbags when reconnecting battery. If not sure then get a garage to fit them for you.

Cheers

Right got seats in and working fine .no memmory function but wasnt worried about tha need to run a live and an earth to both seats ther were ten wires but only needed two so im happy . If any one else does this the two wires to connect are the red seat wire to live and the brown and white to earth and of course the three airbag wires and seatbelt sensors . Thats it job done.
