Cruise control suddenly stopped working

Featured Replies

As the title says really. 07 Fabia vRS SE, been fine, went to use it last Saturday and nothing, would not engage at all. Is this likely to be the switch on the stalk or are there other things I could look at?

Is this a common issue?

you need to get it scanned with VCDS IMO.

a faulty brake light switch would stop it working .... but that norm makes the glow plug light flash

A faulty clutch switch can also stop it working.

Have a check to see if your brake lights are working, daft as it seems, when the cruise control is switched on and all set at a speed, as you know if you touch your brakes or depress your clutch pedal, this instantly disengages the cruise control.

Im thinking maybe if the brake light/clutch switch was faulty the cruise control won't come on, because it thinks the pedal is depressed.

Also have a check of fuse F28 (stop light switch/clutch switch power).

Cheers for the replies. Brake lights are all OK as is fuse 28 (5a).

Sounds like I need to have it scanned :(

silly question, the switch on top of the left stalk, is set to "ON" for the cruise, as if the switch is to the right it turns off cruise, to the left it turns it on, normally you don't touch it, but if a passenger has changed it or you pushed it to far over when you disengaged cruise

had to ask

I had a faulty clutch switch

£11 for a new one

Always worth asking the silly questions :)

No, I checked it was on. That's not a bad price for a switch...I suppose they are almost impossible to access?

about a 15 min job drop lower dash down twist switch pull out put new switch in dash back job done

Dirty contact in the CC switch could be something else to check.

There's a 'How to' on the net somewhere with lots of pictures.
