Coding westphalia dedicated towbar wiring

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just fitted a towbar to my yetti (2012 140tdi 4wd SE) using a dedicated wiring kit from Westphalia.

It was a bit of a PIA to fit as there was no towbar pre prep on my vehicle so all the wiring had to be run to the front fuse box. I got it all fitted properly in the end, and all the basics work - but I am not sure how to code it using the VCDS to turn off the rear parking sensors etc.

According to the westphalia instructions I just change the setting to "coded" and follow the instructions - but I presume this is only if you are using thier own test kit.

Using VCDS the new module is recognised - but all I can change is the long code - and I do not know what to change it to.

Can anyone advise me ?

Have you gone to module 19 - CAN Gateway and ticked the box(es) for trailer / towbar then saved this?

That may fix both issues.

Hi Karl

I had not done that - but I have now and sadly I still get exactly the same error messages.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Doh

I forgot to clear out the fault code from module 19 before re-scanning.

I have now done so and re-scanned and everything comes back OK, and no faults found

Thanks for the help.

John

No problem. Glad it's sorted.

Check it again after a few drives just to be sure that the fault codes haven't come back, but I don't think they will.
