paranoid about oil usage

Featured Replies

Hi there

As the title says i am paranoid about the oil usage of my vrs (CTHE) after everything i have read on here, Just checked my oil, having not even done 500 miles yet.

This was the result, i dont know how much oil was put in at the dealers, maybe it wasn't filled but would be interested in people's thought's?

Do i need to top it up now? and if so what oil is best to use?

Many thanks

Is that it dipped when cold or after being brought up to 'Normal Running Temperature' then checked after a few minutes?

Thats dipped after a good run temperature was about 91 on maxi dot, and left it for 5mins parked before I checked it

Thats how the Manual tells you and shows.

Also check it when cold and see where it sits please.

Just to see where it does show on your dipstick.

I take it you read the Skoda Fabia Owners Manual.

Personally with 3.6 litres of oil in, i expect the oil to be at the top of the hatched area.

Be careful not to overfill and ask the Skoda Dealer what they do at the PDI.

What matters is that you do not use too much when running the car and you top up when required.

That does not really look too low, just lower than i would run it,

if you put it to the top of the cross hatch you might find the oil temp sits at 90*oC or a bit below..

Here is one with dirty Oil the other day, dipped cold.

Oil at the Top Orange marker,

& that is at the top of the Cross Hatched when hot.

Trev, I'd just dropped my oil, changed filter and refilled with Castrol Edge Professional LongLife III 5-W30 oil, 3.6 litres of it as per the book and my dipstick shows the oil level at exactly the level your picture shows. Mind you, when I got it from the dealers it was showing higher, between A & B (as per manual) on the stick of horror.

If I were you I'd not top up at all. Just leave it and check every other fill up or so.

looks ok to me, car usually comes back after a service with the same measurement, as for paranoia, just keep an eye it, I had breather mod and oil usage checks and so on, now I just top it up.

Enjoy your car, I have found oil usage reduces when you push on with the vRS.

( I have to keep posting, just to prove there are good engines out there ;) )

That's a good place to be on the dipstick IMHO.
