Caliper Painting Advice

Featured Replies

Thinking of painting some calipers, either Green or Silver.

I have seen some hamerite (smooth) at Halfords that seems SKodaish green.

Any one carried out caliper painting got any advice and what was the end result like.

Is it best to use proper caliper paint? and if so any one know a good source of green or silver?

John

Demon Tweeks ( www.demon-tweeks.co.uk ) sell caliper paint and laquer, but they don't do it in green. I think someone mentioned something about a briskoda.net dicsount, but I've forgotten who you need to speak to.

arent they green already on your RS?

Hello,

I used the smooth Hammerite green on my calipers and it's very close to the Skoda green. Make sure the caliper is properly degreased and lay on a single thick coat with a small brush. Stops the caliper oxidising (that's my excuse) and looks good thru' the wheels.

Yeah use some hammerite. I did the calipers on my micra in red, one year ago and they are still fine. Also did the drums in silver, fine also. Just clean and wipe with some white spirit or similar before painting.

I've seen the green hammerite done on other cars after people have seen the vRS and wanted to copy, its a good match.:)

Demon Tweeks sell Caliper Paint made by Foliatec -- and they do do green.

We can get 10% at Demon, contact [email protected]

I would only recomend using proper caliper paint, have used Foliatec before -- gives a spot on finish, and incidentaly if you ask Skoda customer service what you should do with stonechips on your vRS calipers - they will send you demon bound for Foliatec....

Might get some black paint for mine so they'll match the fronts :D

Interesting! Their catalogue doesn't list green, although I've no doubt you're right.

Does it list Dynamic Blue? There's nothing quite like a colour coordinated car, is there!

Denis you can get tyres with blue inserts in the tread now! think they are BFG? if you want to pursue the theme?

And you can get:

blue neons

blue illuminated dust caps for the tyres

blue window tints

blue rinse (oops, forgot you already have that)

:D

Thanks guys - excellent coments its always good to get advice from people who have actually carried out the task.

Yes the RS calipers are already green, but I am thinking of painting the Superbs as they were cleaned by the garage with acid I assume when they cleaned the alloys and look horrible now. It will go with the V// badge now proudly displayed on the grill :----)

a vRS superb? cool:cool:

Not half as cool as a 1.4 16V 4X4 Estate...

So you have the Superb and the Octy.. did you get rid of the other (non RS) octy that I think you had?

(and both have RS numberplates - cool  )

Yep Yep and Yep, was saving the plate for a Fabia vRS or Oct combi vRS but the superb came along - the sensible choice would have been the Fabia but I cant be sensible all the time:D The badge does in my opinion liven up the rather plain large front of the Superb - light touch paper and retire for a cool beer:cheers:

I could make a 1.4 14v unit with the residue if I put that badge on the back:D
