Octavia SE queries

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sorry if this is the wrong section to post this in. I could have put it in the "Tech" section but I think the question is only partly related to that bit.

Anyway after just over 33 months of having the '08' Fabia 3 1.4TDI / 80bhp I have just joined the ranks of Octavia owners after purchasing a '61' Octavia SE 1.6TDI / 105bhp which I picked up on Friday 19th April from Platinum, Bath. Loving the drive and the extra space in the vehicle. Good stuff. A couple of things though:

1. The radio in the SE has a "Phone" button and according to the instructions provided I have to press "Setup" and then press the Telephone option on the screen in order to set up my phone for the handsfree. However I am finding no Telephone option on the screen. I suppose there is a question as to whether a modification was made that saw removal of the handsfree kit but I think the speakers are there. So am I missing something or is this a very minor problem that 5 minutes in a Skoda dealership and a software correction might fix?

2. I am already getting the "Check Deadlock" message on the trip computer. I assume this is nothing serious: I work for a car rental operation as a driver and we see this all the time in the depot. Also, as the vehicle is a '61' plate I could probably get this fixed for no charge due to the warranty not running out until October 2014. But what is the deadlock?

Any help / advice would be welcome.

Cheers,

Dave

The SE doesnt come with Bluetooth phone prep as standard, very few Octavias apart from the SE plus and SE connect vehicles did. All the touchscreen audo units, Bolero included have a phone button it will just mute your stereo most likely.

You could fit the OEM Bluetooth module but its a bit of work and would involve removing the stereo, some of the trim and possibly a bit of wiring (including getting the OEM mic up into its home in the courtesy light panel.

Also check deadlock message isnt a fault, its a warning for you to check that when locking the car that youre not locking anyone inside it as once deadlocked the interior and exterior doorhandles dont work (its a security feature to stop a crim busting your window and opening the door with the interior handle, been a common fixture on cars with central locking for years now).

For info, one click of the lock button locks and deadlocks the doors and sets th alarm with ultrasonic sensors active if fitted, two clicks disable the deadlocks and i believe also the alarm though it may just turn off the interior sensors and leave the rest of the system active I can never remember.

A deadlocked alarmed cars LED will flash approx once a second, a non deadlocked car wont flash at all.

What he said

The Bluetooth is super easy to fit, if i can do it.... then anyone can.
