Want to remove the internal plastic trim panel on the sill below the passengers door which has the bonnet release handle located with in this section of trim.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE BONNET HANDLE??

Any one removed or replaced the handle who can tell me how to get the handle off??

Don't know about the superb but on my Octavia it is held on with 2 screws which are covered by the handle in its normal position.

Martin.S recently had some trouble with the handle being a bit stiff, so he should be able to shine some light on the matter, i myself hate why skoda don't move the thing over to the drivers side, i keep reaching down to the bottom of the sill to pull the bonnet only to remember you have to lean right over to the other side to do it, but as for removing it.. havn't got a clue.

I had a look in my copy of ELSA but all it says is 'remove the handle' and doesn't elaborate on how to achieve this.

I haven't looked at the Superb yet, but in my last car (07 Jetta) there was a U shaped circlip-like bent piece of wire that had to be removed first. You did this by pushing the lower A-pillar away from the bonnet release handle, then hooking (like a bent paperclip) the little wire clip and pulling it out. The handle then pulled straight off. Take a look with a torch and see if you can see the same on the Superb.

If its the same as the Octavia Mk2 then its simple.

There's a plastic tab on the round bit of the handle towards the front of the car. Use a screwdriver or similar to pull this towards the front. You don't need to remove it completely.

Pull the handle off using very little force..

When replacing the handle, have the clip sticking out a little bit, push the handle back on and the clip will magically pull itself back into place and lock the handle on.

Hope the Superb is the same.

The Octavia trim has one T20 screw near the handle and one large plastic domed 'nut' by the pedals.

@KBPhoto: Reading your description, the Superb is the same as the O2. And my handle is mounted on the drivers side!

I was installing the PTC heater and rear camera on the weekend and discovered how to remove the bonnet release handle, so here it is for future reference.

Pull the handle towards yourself, use a trim removal bone to flip the clip out of the handle. The handle then pulls directly off the spindle.

To re-install, partially install the clip, push the handle onto the spindle ensuring that the teeth on the handle and spindle mesh, and push the clip home.
