Car is in for some warranty work today

Featured Replies

At 18 months old it requires a new alarm siren, 4 new wheel center caps and a new center console (sticky handbrake) so although the siren has gone early all well documented issues.

I have corrosion/ delamination on all the skoda badges and wheel caps are these problematic to get fixed under warenty?

It really shouldn't be. The dealer gets paid for doing warranty work and the badges must cost Skoda about 5p each to make.

No issue at all getting mine replaced.

All looks good on the car so far, will be going out to do a through inspection later.

Only issue when I picked my car up was that the GFF session on their diagnostics knocked my Columbus into some sort of muted mode, you could change the volume but it was still muted and had an odd muted icon. Phone worked OK through it and everything. A three finger salute fixed that though, the Master Tech hadn't ever seen one do it before.

I've just had all my centre caps replaced under warranty

Well having had a good look at the car I am not too impressed - just been back to the dealer and shown it to one of the service supervisors.

They have managed to stress the rear trim of the centre section so that the top has gone milky white, not put the vents back in properly and managed to leave the power socket disconnected (Though I aught to check that that they haven't just managed to blow the fuse).

Which ever tech did the work managed to put mucky shoes all over the rear mat and carpet, luckily I still have my rubber winter mats in, but I did make them sort out the carpet in case it wasn't just workshop floor dust. So no paper floor mats available. He asked me what I wanted him to do about the trim, cue breath whilst I composed myself, when I calmly suggested that they might like to replace the trim, put it back together properly and re-connect the power socket.

So two jobs OK - but one massive mess up - does make you wonder if anyone does QA on the jobs after the techs have finished or if they are trusted to check their own work.

I will give them a chance to rectify the issue before I name and shame, though there are some on here that know me that will know which garage I use.

Well checked the fuse today and it had blown - so it seems like he managed to blow the fuse when he took the centre trim out to fit the handbrake.

So that is one off of my list.

I'm still waiting to get a satisfactory answer from my dealer regarding my windscreen being broken whilst in their care!

Best of luck with that - I hope you get the result that you want - stick to your guns.

Well I have given in! I have settled for the screen being replaced by my insurance company and the dealer is paying the excess. I'm not particularly happy with this as it will affect my premium next year but I was told that there was no way they were going to budge and that I either took the payment for my excess or sought an independent review at my expense (and considerable in convience). I really don't have the time for the argument at the moment and they have lost what could have been a good long term customer over something that could have been handled much better. I am still going to send off a complaint letter once I have settled but don't really expect anything to come of it!

Sorry the hear that you had to cave in.

Mine has had a satisfactory resolution, took the car in yesterday and they have replace the trim and it has been installed correctly.

I did bump into my salesman whilst there and mentioned the issue that I had and my experience of the supervisors attitude, he offered to have a word with the after sales manager. I said that I will put it down to the guy possibly having a bad day and will report it myself if it happens next time I use them.
