Knocking fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all I have a fabia vrs I owned about 4 months and its always had a knock from he front .. I recently fitted coilovers an shorter drop links an he noise is still there annoying me !! Today I have had it and rang skoda saying I want you to change the front arb bushes how much ... He rang me back and quoted £191 !!! I nearly died I said it that for a hole new part or just the bushes he said just the bushes it's a 3 hour job we have to remove your sub frame !! I have just had the car up and u can clearly get to the bolts with out removing the sub frame so I don't no where they got the price from I would attempt it my self but I will only end up breaking somthing like I usually do .. The knocking can only be the arb from what I can see

Checked your balljoints and top mounts?

Top mounts are fine aint looked at ball joints it only makes the noise going over small pot holes etc

Well I just wasted £142 on a track rod end and tie rod end as apparently they had play but no the knocking still there ! So it's either the arb bush or the top mounts this car is really beggining to boil my p"""

You're not helping yourself at all. If it had a knock when you got it then you find the cause and fix it before doing other stuff and introducing new variables.

Also when does it knock, is it under braking? When pulling away? Only when cornering? Does it get louder when you turn one way or another? It's details like those that make the difference between random guessing and targeted suggestions that should help :)

It only knocked when going over small pot holes man covers Etc does not knock going round corners or anything it's been to skoda kwik fit local garage and still no joy .. The mechanic said nothing is lose under the car he can see and he spent a good 40 mins looking yesterday with a pri bar only think that moved was the track rod what they changed but the noise is still there so either I pay another £150 and get the arb bushes changed to the find out its the top mounts and then replace them I don't no .. It's confusing the mechanics as much as me

Hmm if I take of the drop links and drive the car the arb should not knock if that's the problem should it ?

Anyone ?

Did he check the bonnet at all?

Omfg I don't believe it !! I just checke the bonnet opened it banged a rag in the latch drove it no noise :-( two mins and some duck tape and no more noise I would have never looked at the bonnet as I was convinced it was coming from under the car i now have a sorta quiet car apart from a noise on the left what was been masked by the bonnet ! But I don't care my knocking has gone ! Avalon I love u !

Glad it's sorted :)

Good call, would never have thought of that.
