Boot Pop Problem

Featured Replies

I have just had a problem develop with the boot pop device on my Fabia. It seems the solenoid clicks perhaps a few times, maybe two or three, rather then just once, when opening the boot.

It seems to do this regardless of if I use the remote fob to open it or the rubber pad on the boot itself!

The problem started about a week ago and sometimes it makes the boot a little harder to close, too. Its like it is out of sync or something!

The only difference to the car lately, was I blew a fuse on the interior lights, pulled a different fuse, replaced it along with the correct fuse and then found the airbag light on. The dealer used his magic to remove the airbag light, saying it was probably a warning similar to blown bulbs but prior to taking it there, I removed the battery lead for about an hour, to see if it re-set itself, to no avail.

Apart from this, I have lubricated the locking mechanism, along with the bonnet catch and ignition switch, using WD40, so unsure if this has affected the pop!

Anyone else have or had problems here and if so, did you resolve it?

NOPE mine does the same !!!

annoying but not the end of the world !!

Mine does it now and again. Doesnt play up for a couple of months then plays up for a couple of days then stops. Click the lock once after its clicked 3 times and that seems to sort it. Annoying but not the end of the world! Ive had it looked at as well

mrgf, how did you reset the ecu after disconnecting the battery? Best way to solve this is just remove both battery leads for 30 mins. Next, replace leads in the correct sequence. Make sure the ignition key is NOT in the ignition while you do this. Next, just put the key in the ignition making sure you unlock the steering lock but DO NOT at any point turn on the ignition or attempt to start the engine. Close the drivers door and walk away from the car leaving the car unlocked with the key in the ignition for around 15 mins. Also, employ an armed guard to make sure your car is not nicked! Next remove the key from the ignition. Lock the car and then unlock the car and start the engine. After you shut the car down you should then be able to open the boot without that annoying double clicking solenoid sound. This technique works a treat on many different makes of car that require an ecu reset where the the ecu see's the locking system. The key and ecu talk to each other once the key is in place with the steering lock undone. I'd be surprised if it doesn't work.
