Behind the radio is a bit of plastic that looks a bit like:

Kinda like that, can I chop it off or is the dash gonna cave in? I ask as my radio doesn't sit quite back far enough.

You can chop one if the sides off to allow more room for the cabling if you like, works quite well.

why not take a photo and post it?

I doubt the dash would cave in, but its there for a reason.

Pic will mean getting radio out again, and you know how fun that is Jeff!

I'll try for tomo.

How do you mean 1 of the sides Lummox? Its not so much the cabling its purely the radio is too deep I think, I've managed to get the cables sat behind this thing but the back of the radio needs to go back.

The radio itself shouldnt be to deep, din size should limit the depth aswell as the width etc and Ive never not been able to fit one in.

The circle in the middle supports the back of the stereo (the little bubber bung) and stops the back of the headunit jumping which can leads to CD's skipping.

If you remove one of the sides it will still support, pop out the glove box and feed the wiring back as you push the headunit it. You will find it will slide into place alot easier.

There is no way you could fit a bung on the back  I'll have the glovebox out again and I'll take pics of where I mean its too deep, I have done that to tuck the cables back. Let me take some pics tomorrow and I'll update this thread with them and then decide if I can loose it or not. Oh and my Fab came with a tape player, tapes can't skip can they? Can they?

It will still have had the bung, and all sets should have one, the bung goes into the hole so shouldnt cause it to stick out.

But hey, chop it out it only supports the back of the headunit, nowt structual.

Thats the important thing, that I wont kill the car. Thanks Lummox

Take the air vents out too, it made it alot easier for me when I put mine in. they just prise out from the sides, just prise it enough to get your fingers in and lift the bottom out first.
