so I am driving to work, cross the severn bridge and hit 72 mph, where I hear a really loud noise that can only be described as 'father christmas sleigh bells whilst whistling loudly'

think its a lorry, so I put foot down, it stops as I pass lorry. drop back down and hit 72, I am being chased by santa again. I spped up, it stops. slow down to 72 it starts.

it has not happenend since. all I can think it was the strong cross wind on the rear spoiler, as I opened the rear windows and that's where it seemed to come from.

I have tried every way to reproduce the sound for the last 150 miles and I just can't now

No idea bout the noise. Might have suggested a stone in the rear disk cover but you're going far too fast for that.
