Monte carlo tech insurance

Featured Replies

I have looked at insurance for monte tech it is about £40 a year more than the standard monte 1.2 tsi 105. Just because it has satnav and bluetooth and says tech. If i ordered a monte with factory order of satnav and bluetooth £40 less. For me £323 for tech and £287 for standard (Insurance ripoff) Again

£40 a year! Crikey, how will you cope with that?

When I ordered my Monte Carlo tech I was told it makes no difference to insurance ? As its still a 1.2tsi 105bhp hope this isn't wrong :( also If you go on Comparison insurance site ie confused an put in the details doesn't say tech anywhere just Monte Carlo 1.2tsi 105bhp

Its not the money its the lets put more on because it a tech

An extra £40 danger-money for the insurers as the monte tech is so much more attractive to the Chav car thief/joyrider lol!

"C'mon boyz let's be 'avin off with this beast - it's only a fookin' TECH model with factory satnav and bluetoof innit......"

Shouldn't be any difference in insurance price between the normal monte and Tech, still the same car same insurance group same engine!

Wether its a monte or tech should count for too much??? Acording to DVLA mines an SE lol

Monte is based on a SE anyway isn't it? :)

Can I just add £40 quid is nothing compared to my insurance cost, I've only been driving 10 months and current insurance is 600 more than if I was driving 12 months but even that is £2170! Am I crazy? (Yes) that's why I'm wait for my monte so I save the 600 quid :)

Hi all,

I've just priced my insurance as I've got a Monte Tech 1.2 TSI on order and was quoted £5 more for the Tech than the standard Monte. Still not going to cost any more to change over from my current car which is a bonus.

The only reason it's a bit more is because of the standard spec. You'd probably find that most Insurance companies would charge a small extra premium anyway if you specced a standard Monte up with the Satnav as it's not standard equipment, it's classed as an extra.

I work for a big car insurance company so this is what I know just from working in insurance.

Hope this goes some way to explaining the extra premium.

So how many people who buy a car and add factory fitted extas like satnav bluetooth rear park sens climate control cruse control and so on TELL there insurance company?

We ask both on the phone and on our website if there's any extras or mods fitted.

You're right, insurance companies rely on a customer's upmost good faith but if anything happens to the car and you make a claim that's when the trouble starts.

If your Satnav gets stolen and you haven't told the insurance company about it being fitted, they won't replace it, simples!!
