Wheel spacers

Featured Replies

Hi guys im after some advice on what size wheel spacers I need, im having my VRS lowered tomorrow but ive been told coz I have 225 tyres they will rub if I go as low as I want. Is this fact? Also if I go for to different sizes do I have to buy two sets or can you purchase them as one set?

Cheers

After trial fitting my R32 wheels which are 7.5j and ET38 with 225 40 18s i can just fit my finger between the back of the tyre and strut, in not running my weitecs that low but if you wanted to go low i would imagine the spring platforms will start hitting the tyre!

10 - 20mm spacers should see you clear them easily tho.

And i think spacers usually come in pairs rather than a set of 4 anyway.

It's far from unknown to only spacer a car at one end, or spacer it different amounts each end.

Also, are you using lowering springs or coilovers? I'm asking because not everyone realises that coilovers use lower diameter springs and pans than OEM, and that gives you more inside clearance anyway.

Not if coilovers are set low as the spring and platform then sit behind the Tyre/rim and even with 205 Tyres you only have tiny clearance

Fact , If you have coilovers and you go quite low with std Octy spiders and 225 tyres you will hit coilover spring platforms. If you have lowered approx 20mm you are ok.

I had that issue and i got around this by fitting 12mm spacers. If you fit spacers that are narrower you may well crack the spacer hubcentric flange as not strong enough. Certainly on the 8mm CRM ones i first fitted. And you will soon know about it as the wheel balance will be all over the place.

This leaves me to sort out the rear as not spaced yet. 15mm is too wide as hit the arch so waiting for a better quality spacer that is around 6 to 10 mm

Thanks for your replies guy's, yep im running spiders with weitec coil overs which I brought almost three year ago but i never got round to getting them fitted, I've got rear bump stops and new top mounts but didn't think about spacers. I'll see how they get on with it tomorrow and go from there.

Thanks again guy's
