Featured Replies

Is this available yet, or have they announced one?

Not available yet but will be soon, with a sub 90 co2 rating! :)

Has date for greenline version been released yet?

All Octy III's come with GLII Tech as standard so all are significantly below the CO2 emissions of the equivalent Octy II without needing to opt for the GL spec.  I appreciate a GL spec will probably move the game on again but in terms of everyday compromise between power, economy and looks, for me, the full on eco spec cars take the edge off overall ownership experience, and I am happy to wait for the next generation when they will roll out more tried and tested eco tweaks as standard.  One of the GL tweaks that they ought to roll-out is lowering the standard suspension by at least 15mm, and the sports suspension should be lower still.

I have looked at the golf mk7 HB, the full bluemotion version has 110PS 1.6 TDI 6 spd manual, I prefer this over the 105PS 1.6tdi 5 spd manual. I have a 110PS yeti with 5 speed man, and it really could do with 6th for motorways.

But I did notice that you get a lot less toys as standard. even you can't have all options such as sat nav/bi-xenon.

The golf bluemotion comes with lowered suspension as standard.

I am going for company car that is why full greenline is important to me 13% BIK instead of 16% could save me 20 to 30 in tax a month.

Also I would be considering octy III 2.0tdi HB vs golf estate bluemotion (when it released). Have two young kids and I need the space. octy III estate goes up to 17% in BIK for 2.0tdi, I may reconsider this when greenline figures come out.

As an ex company car driver, I can understand the desire for low CO2, my old 170CR Superb II was 25% BIK or £195 per month in tax when it went back, but when I ordered it in March 2009, the BIK was only 20%. I decided to opt out this time and the Octy III is costing me about £50 less per month to run taking into account car allowance, tax, insurance and fuel, and I put in zero deposit. As a private motor, I can also claim additional business mileage allowance relief, and the estimated residual value after 4 years should equate to a £4k deposit for the vRS! If I keep it 5 years the full residual value will be pure profit compared to the big fat zero you get from running a company car. My monthly costs are also pretty much fixed for the duration of the ownership as road tax and insurance are unlikely to increase anywhere near the rate that the BIK accelerator affects company car tax.

Anyone heard anymore news on when the greenline version will be released, a web search shows some more details on skoda nl website, but as I have seen on this forum - the continental specification varies from the UK one!

Hi,

Is there going to be a car more economical than the 1.6 Tdi? Pretty impressive!

Happy New Year to All!

Still no news on this from Skoda, I am being forced to make a decision on this in the first week of 2014 and as a company car driver in the high tax band CO2 is critical, I wanted an estate so will have to go for the slightly smaller Leon ST which has the 110PS 6SP new VW engine 87g CO2.

I did speak with Skoda UK and let them know that they are loosing business due to the slow introduction of this engine, I expect there are some politics behind this in that VW wanted to showcase the Golf BM for a certain period, but Seat now have the engine for order. This engine should go into all Skoda's ASAP to help provide overall CO2 savings, I can't see the point of having the very old 1.6Tdi 5SP or the gutless 1.4 & 1.2 Tdi versions! Should also be a high output version of this new 1.6 with circa 136PS to match the new Fiat/Vauxhall engine.

I'm old enough to remember when a company car was a totally free perk of the job with all fuel included tax free, then the CO2 BS came in, everyone jumped in diesel cars so the government raised the price of diesel (its still 10% cheaper than petrol in Europe), sorry I'm just an old git remembering the good old days!

Cheers

Dave

Ah, they are finally moving away from the 5 speed 105bhp engine? About time!
