HELLLLLP! Brembo adapter problem (pic heavy)

Featured Replies

I bought these 4pot Brembos with 343mm Ap Racing discs off Fleebay last month but when installing them today I noticed that the collars on the first calliper adapter have snapped off! And the second one has a bent collar. Ive seen some cheap copy adapters on Fleebay but I don't know whether to trust them, let alone know if they fit. I haven't messaged him yet, I'm hoping that he will do a part refund as I really want the discs ;)

Thought so.......shame that is.

are the discs designed for the octy, as look like they have been redrilled from something else...not that well either

nice spec car btw

Its new collars/shims you need, the look of it.

A machine shop should be able to knock up some replacements without hassle.

They do need a bit of a refurb, but dust seals look good, which is a good sign

I'd be more worried by the bell. Have the extra holes been drilled to fit to 5x100 ?

eg red circled holes:

If so, Might be worth getting a new bell

The lugs are just a spacer, in theory you could just make sure the bracket is flat and make up the width of the lug with washers, it would do the same job.

But as said those bells look dodgy as you like.

yes either washers or a milled piece from a machine shop, as said have seen some kits made up with washers anyway. Thats not the bit that would concern me, its the redrilling and all of which are through existing holes. Not ideal at all imo. A new bell would be a good solution.

The rest can be sorted and refurbed as required. There is a fair bit of ally corrosion on those, so i would def sort that at this stage too.

Thanks for you're replies, it's seems apart from the adaptors a few are concerned about the discs. Well I test fitted them today and they must have been machined holes as the bolts line up perfectly with no play at all. So it's just the adaptors now! I've contacted the seller and we're working out a part refund to cover the cost of new adaptors and a new metal hose line aswel. What a nightmare! They was packaged up in news paper!!!! Yes NEWS PAPER!

your caliper is upside down ;)

your caliper is upside down ;)

I know yea, just to get a idea of how it looks as the other calliper has no collars/spacers

its the fact there isnt full meat around the new hole to enclose your bolts, ie part of the new hole has no surround. Under extreme conditions its not going to be as strong as a new hole in sold metal. Looks like a bit of a bodge imo, and bet ap dont sell em like that.

I would not want those brakes on my car. As mentioned, there is not enough meat around the wheel bolt holes. You won't like this, but take them off. Now. And get some new bells machined up.

Is it ok if I take them off tomorrow, NOW lol like I said "test fit".

my car hasn't even got the engine in, so I'm not going anywhere soon

This then, is OK :)

I'd be asking for a refund tbh; you've got a crap load of problems there and you're not done with the expense either :(

I bought them off eBay 3weeks ago but they was a week late so I just checked to make sure they was in the box as I just happy they arrived. It's only yesterday when trying to put them on I noticed they were f***d.

he's now saying that since its gone passed 7days he cant claim from the coriour (even tho they was packaged up with news paper) so he wont even give me a part refund.

i feel like ive had my trousers pulled down. :( bad times.

Pay pal mate get a claim in on there! Quick you have 40 days iirc.

Robbing **** sounda like he knew they were ******.

This is what he sent me. hes right but its because of his very poor packing/misleading description on eBay that's the problem.not the courier.

"Mate not giving you a £*** refund due them being damaged in the post so like I said you can send them back but minus fees and postage as you left it so long let me speak to Ebay tomorrow see what they say might be able to get fees back not trying to fob you off understand your ****ed off but at the moment you want a refund and I going to be left with a set of brakes that were set in good order and now a knackered you say when it's either of are faults when if you had let me know day after I could of claimed and all this would if been sorted as I even paid extra insurance cost due to price of them "

That damage is not postage damage. Sorr bur unless it was run over by the truck lol he is a bull ****ter

Get on pp and open a dispute. Asap

I'm going to wait till tomorrow and see what he has to say after he's spoken to eBay. Witch I know is bull****,but I'm just curious to what his next move is.

Its his fault as he didnt package them well enough! Most specify at least 50mm of decent packaging around the item. Most couriers get out of the claim anyways as they say when you sign its to say goods arrived in good order. Basically pointless having it unless item goes missing. Paypal claim it is mate, hope you get sorted

lol did the courier drill manky holes in the bells?

Have you left him feedback? If you have left him positive ebay and paypal probably won't want to know about it

Nope, I haven't left any yet, thank god lol

Straight onto a paypal dispute then. Not fit for purpose and it's nothing to do with a the courier.

The brackets could be saved with new (better) spacers but the bells are toast IMO
