Headlight washers?

Featured Replies

My first Yeti, a 10-reg Elegance CR170 4x4, had headlight washers. They'd go off about every third go of the windscreen washers.

My new Yeti, a 13-reg Elegance CR170 4x4, does not seem to have them. The nubbins under the lights look the same, but thus far there's been no headlight washing action.

Have these been removed from the standard equipment?

Ta in advance!

If you have the bi-xenon headlights then headlight washers are a legal requirement* so they're extremely unlikely to have been removed from the spec. You are aware that they're only supposed to wash the lights when the lights are actually on?

* If you Google you will probably find plenty of people offering convoluted arguments as to why this isn't strictly the case, but for some unaccountable reason it seems that the vehicle manufacturers prefer to avoid entering in to such debates when seeking type approval.

I am now - thanks. :D

I think my last Yeti did it even if the lights weren't on, but I could be mistaken.

Mine new one has them, same as TIBET I - both CR170s and the 170 is only available in Elegance spec (in the UK) so has bi-xenons as standard.

Try washing the windscreen with the headlights on - they should get washed on the first activation and then every whenever after that. I can't remember seeing them do their thing with the lights off but that may be I'm not washing the screen enough times on a journey with the lights off.

That was true until the SE+ was launched.

The SE+ is available with the CR170 as well, and xenons aren't standard as far as I'm aware.

A TapaTalk enabled phone was used to write this...

Our Monster seems to always wash the lights (if on obviously) when you first use the system from starting up, then every fifth or sixth time after that; pretty sure from recollection the previous SE was the same, as is our Monte (fitted with the optional light wash system).

You can gentle pull the washers forward, as they operate on water pressure and are retuned and held closed by a spring. Occasional do this to clean round them and if your even more careful you can remove the covers completely from the washer head.

Thanks chaps. I'll try 'em with the lights on and see. :)

If you have the colour coded caps under the headlights then you have headlight washers fitted.

I'm absolutely certain that Sporky will find he has them when he tries with the lights on.

Perhaps he isn't allowed out in the dark?

:D

I'm allowed out, it's just that I quite like being at home. It's comfy and it's where my wife and most of my stuff are.

I will report back as soon as I've had a chance to try it. Ta muchly!

I promise to do more reading up on the Yeti species....

They are set to the first use of the washer and then every fifth time during that journey once you turn off the ignition it will go back to the first activation on commencing a new journey and every fifth after that etc etc this is oem setting and is only on when lights are switched on.
