Fabia VRS Newbie

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Been stalking the site for some time now but as i now have some cash im currently on the look out for my first fabia vrs.

Just wondered if anyone can give any in-sight into owning one, Iv looked through a fair amount of buying guides and common problems for buying but wondered if anyone can give me an honest opinion on what they are like to own on a day to day basis namely:

What sort of MPG is really achievable,

Servicing costs,

Things to keep an eye on etc...

Iv got my eye on a few fabias but would also like you guys opinion on preference of:

Low mileage car (60k) with 50% dealer history 50% independant, With cam belt done.

Or higher mileage (100k) car with full dealer service history and had replacement (uprated) turbo?

Any help would be apriciated, This will be my first fabia and my first diesel i have a budget of up to 4k so if anyone can point me in the direstion of any others it would be much appriciated.

Thanks

Andy

My mk1 averaged 40mpg overall town, traffic and motorway

Upto 65mpg on a run (whilst mapped stage 1)

Thanks for that!

Definately gonna get one, Just need to find the right one.

Ideally id like to get one between 60-80k 2005-06 with cruise control if possible...

Looking forward to having a bit of performance and economy..

Out of interest what bhp was yours running when it was blowing the boost pipes?

165 it wasn't the map it was the lugs on the pipe connectors were worn

i bought new ones off a member on here for 30 quid

Alright sorry to but in but ive heard you have uprate the clutch for a map. How did your standard clutch cope? I have a 55 plate fabia vrs with 66 thousand on the clock

Its all relative, if you want to boost hard from pull off or sub 2k revs get a clutch and smf

If you are sensible and release full boost and torque over 2.5k revs you should be ok so long as you stay sub 300 ish ft/lbs

the test is when you speak to the tuner, if he says "the map is the map" then you takes your chances

2 of us got a 2 for £400 quid deal at christmas and the tuner modded the maps to reduce smoke and a spike my mates developed, I also had the egr mapped out too

If you are new to it all go to a big player ..shark, jabba etc etc and make use of the better customer service, they will talk you through it and you'll get an insight to exactly what they are doing and how it works

forum sponsors wont rip you off
