Re-mapping Octavia 1.8L SLXI 20V automatic ?

Featured Replies

Looking to try and get better economy out of this old little car which runs very well with low mileage, rather than sell it for a diesel just yet.

My question is, can this car be re-mapped and would i benefit from doing so or would i run the risk of problems and not much fuel saving?

Sorry if it's a stupid question but I am not very technical. I rely on your expert advise on here, which i am truly thankful for.

Thanks in advance.

Is it the 1.8 turbo or just a 1.8?

Remapping NA engine is like bringing flowers to a hooker, totally pointless :hi:

Dunno, might cause her to wipe between clients for you. Depends on the hooker :)

<thinks: THAT is going to get me a warning!>

Hmm, sorry I don't know, how can i tell?

Look at the back of the engine, if there's some pipes and a big metal thing connected to the exhaust then it's a turbo, if there's just a manifold connected to the exhaust then it's not

Thanks guys, just spoke to a guy who said this:

"And honest answer is that remapping on petrol normally aspirated vehicle whilst improving performance will do nothing to improve fuel consumption and

might even have a detrimental effect if you subsequently start enjoying the extra performance!"

would you agree?

Yup agree with that, also think that extra performance would be minimal without spending cash on upgrading stuff
