Help me out here. My next service is 4000kms away and I wanna ask them to do a bunch of stuff plus an engine tune-up. What would that consist of?

Engine tune up on new cars I would of thoughts just means checking to see it the engine is running within parameters eg. Fueling, timing etc, but as the ECU on the new cars takes care of pretty much everything to do with the engine I can really see much being done TBH.

On the older non injected car with points a tune up would mean a check of the engine timing and adjust if necessary, fuel mixture from the carb and again just a general check.

Can't really think of anything else they could manuall change as that's the ECU's job to keep everything in check.

Are you asking for an engine tune-up, or are they offering one? AFAIK, on newer cars there's very little you can tune up as it's all controlled by the ECU. Only thing I can think of is resetting the throttle bodies, but hey, I'm no mechanic! They might also run some Redex or similar through the tank to clean out the engine.....

Chris I also like to throw a hand full of sand down the inlet ports to clean out the engine... Does wonders for it * :D

* Doing this will seriously damage your engine.
