Superb many many faults

Featured Replies

Hi, I have a 2010 Superb RHD with the following faults. The drivers door indicator in the dash is in the open position with door closed and the interior light stays on while switched to the door position but door closed. Doors cannot be locked with remote but drivers door can be locked with key. None of the controls on the drivers door operate. The head lights cannot be turned off with the key on. I have attached a Vag Com scan, there are so many faults in this that there must be some 1 reason for them. The car was reversed into a horse box about 5 weeks ago. There are 2 tiny dints in the boot door (hard to find),no issues from this incident. This problem occurred a week ago. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi, sounds like the drivers door latch has gone faulty, our old bots did the same and didn't log a fault either :-(

Why not have a word with skoda customer services and see if the can help out on a good will claim ?

Sounds like most of that is down to a faulty door switch

You may find this easier than you think. Hope so. I'm new to Skoda but had a similar issue on Hyundai. Car equivalent of multiple organ failure. Turned out to be one multi connector working loose but not actually detached. Engineers unplugged it, replugged it firmly, diagnostic and reset, and on my way in 10 mins. No charge, no repetition. Your gentle bump may have set it off...evidence may point to driver door, but it may be a multi way anywhere in the car, or boot. Good luck.

All those faults are linked to one faulty component. As already mentioned, its the drivers door latch microswitch that has failed. Get that part replaced and everything will work again as it should, basically the car thinks the door is always open.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the issue as well.

The problem with VAG ECUs is that they log all the faults that are symptoms of one actual failure.

That's not a problem, that's just a natural outcome of an issue like this.

Cars are complicated enough without expecting software engineers to build an if/when analysis on every fault code out there. The human brain works quite well on working stuff like ths out, so in my mind keep it simple, non critical stuff like this should be left alone. Far better having automotive engineers working on important stuff.

Check the wires between the car and the faulty door. They CAN brake, and cause loads of funny errors like yours.

Hi,

The car went to dealer and there was a broken wire in the drivers door. Not sure if it was at the lock or the hinge point as I did not bring the car myself.

All problems sorted now, thanks to everyone.

Paddy.
