Pulley rattling noise - Aux Belt tension gone ?

Featured Replies

HI have been getting a Rattling Noise (like a loose pulley) at idling , its not present at high revs though.

The aux belt tensioner seems to vibrate and belt seems to be not tensed up and is a bit wobbly during idling.

Could this is be just idler pulley problem ?

Many Thanks

Alternator pulley is stuffed and has killed the tensioner.

Agreed with the above.

Ok.. Thx guys ... I am going today to vag. specialist to get it sorted .. How much do you reckon to replace alt pulley including labour ... 200-300 gbp ?

Cheers

I had a problem with my Polo in that the free-wheel pully had siezed and that knackered the tensioner.

Think it was about £120 to fix.
