Hi,

I own a 30 month old Fabia TDI 75 BHP which has covered 85,000 miles (mostly motorway miles and always driven steadily). It has recently developed an intermittent, but becoming more regular, 'knocking' noise at idle from the timing belt area.

Any ideas of cause would be welcome.

Iam no expert but It could be the flywheel. My one went on my old 308 Which is expensive, does the knocking sound change when you put your foot on the clutch? And is there any judder when u pull away?

That is some mileage on a 2 1/2 year old car.

I take it that its on Fixed Servicing/oil changes,

but maybe now out of Warranty due to the mileage.

Has it had a Major Service done recently?

Have you talked it over with the mechanic that services the car,

wear and tear is going to be the suspect.

You will get your question answered hopefully by someone that has experience of a similar car in the Fabia 2 section.

Hopefully they can point you towards any known proplems with your engine type.
