I've got an 06 Fabia, and have just pulled out the centre air vent to try to fix non-opening slats on one side. I've taken it apart and found that the second pin (the one that rotates the slat) is broken off most of them.

Does anyone know whether I can get replacement slats separately? I think I only need five. There are complete units on eBay for £20, or single ones for £10. If I can't get the slats separately, can I fit the slats from a single unit into the centre double, or are they a different size?

Not sure if the singles fit the double ones so just buy a centre vent and be done with it. Chances are you'll break the small pins on fitting anyway

Just go to a scrappy and buy the vent for a fiver or take off the slats and pocket them lol

I would suggest buying a new centre console mate, that's what I have done. There are a few Fabia breakers on ebay (not the ones listing individual bits, but the ones listing the whole car. Give them a call, I'm sure you can find a good deal).

BTW, can I ask how easy it is to remove the centre vent console? I will be doing this soon and wanted to get an idea. Is it straightforward to replace? Bearing in mind you have the hazard light button to contend with also...

cloth covered flat screwdriver and just lever out around the frame, gently.... Dash itself is a little spongey so you can use that to get behind easier. It's only held in by pressure clips. The hazard switch has enough free cable, to be able to disconnect once the vent is out the dash.

Or even a couple of credit cards between the vents and the dash if you feel the screwdriver method is a bit risky

I used these to get the vents started followed by using some plastic tyre levers once there was enough purchase around the edge of them.
