Jacking points when using Trolley Jack on 2008 Fabia2

Featured Replies

I have a problem? Bought replacement Front Discs and Brake Pads. In no way am I going to use that pathetic little side-winder jack supplied with the car, have a trolley Jack and need someone to outline exactly where I can use it beneath this fine car. It appears to me to be very difficult to locate a safe place to use a trolley jack, as what I can read into 'safe' area's are not easy to see. I have looked at W Polo locations and see they have an exact same difficlty? Anyone reading this know what to do? I do not want to have to take it to a dealer, as this is a relatively easy piece of work to do. I am a fully capable Motorcycle engineer (Off Road) and feel that this should be dead easy to do. So, any ideas wouldn't go amiss. Thanks

The pathetic little sidewinder jack is quite capable of lifting the vehicle, otherwise why supply it? Or did you want to use a trolley jack without axle stands? I use the pathetic little sidewinder jack on my MkI with no problems and always use axle stands when carrying out work under the car.

I also use a trolley jack with a block of grooved wood at the located jacking points on the sills, then position an axle stand, again with a block of grooved wood, as close as possible to the lift points. A MkII may be slightly different, but I doubt it.

Thanks for your comments I have never seen a Scissor type jack before, at least I haven't ever needed to use one. Am on my 3rd Skoda, owned two Octavia's before P/X ing for present Fabia2. Will try to use the said Jack, have axle stands and will see about using them. Next job for me is to fit another Timing Belt - sooner the better, as Fabia has done 5 years (May 25th) and traveled 34k miles. I can get a kit inc water pump for £105, just need to see about exactly 'what' needs to be removed and how to replace this important piece of an engine! Thanks again
