Rear seats.... increasing luggage space.

Featured Replies

1.8 Estate.

I've followed the manual instructions i.e. raise the leading edge of the seat, then lift the rear edge and it all folds forwards. This works fine on the larger section of the seat, but I can't lift the front edge on the smaller section. I can see a hook shaped catch at the outside edge on the floor the larger section, and it appears that something is engaging with the similar one on the smaller section, preventing raising the seat more than a few inches.

Thoughts???

We had a 15 year old Range Rover and the seat catches were a nightmare, I got the job of disassembling and repairing down to ten minutes. When I read your problem I thought oh no!

Just gone out and looked at mine, lifted both seats without a problem. I can see the catch you refer to on the side of the seat but can't see anything for it to engage with in the seat base.

The first time I lifted mine they worried me as it all seemed a bit Heath Robinson, but as I use it more it's better than most other estates I've owned.

Good luck hope you work it out - I look forward to your answer.

yes. I thought the mechanism was a bit Heath Robinson and even flimsy. I guess I'll have to wait till it goes in for it's next service for them to take a look.

All sorted now

justneeded a bit of brute force to push the base back a smidge then more force to lift the rear edge.

might be a prob for somweone slightly physicaly challenged.
