My car is 8 months old and on 6300 miles, so I'm a bit confused why its showing this on the dash screen?

I thought it usually showed this around 11 months when the service was due, i've got no warning lights at all.

Is it possible the car was sitting at a dealer for 4 months before I bought it so it "thinks" its been on the road for 12 months now? If so, surely this is something which they should have reset when they sold it to me new?

Very possible, more than likely wasnt set up properly at Pdi.

how does one reset it?

Ignition off

Hold trip button in

Ignition on

Hold for a few sections

Turn button to the right, light should clear

Press button

Oil should display

Turn button to the right

Ignition off

Job done, however doesnt work on all dash inserts on the Fabia, it my requires VAG COM, give it a go.

Or take your manual out to the car with you, page 52 IIRC
