Maxidot Convenience Rain Windows Setting

Featured Replies

I've ticked the setting in the maxidot to close the windows when left open, the car is locked and it's raining. But.. having locked the car and left the window open and then stood out in the rain like a twonk to watch it close all by itself, I was seriousy dissappointed to see nothing happen and then have to sit on a wet seat on the way home. How long does it take for the windows to shut, or am i doing something wrong?

A couple of things to note.

make sure the windows have been reset, after the battery has been disconnected

if the rain closing was coded in by someone with vcds then it has to have been coded correctly in the BCM & RLS

OK, will have a look! :-) Thank you

it should close instantly.

a good way to test is to leave the windows open. close & lock up. then sprinke some water on the rain sensor (behind the rear view mirror mounting) - if the right boxes r ticked, then it should close right away.

you need to leave the wiper stalk in the Auto position, ie, the first position. This activates the rain sensor. Then, switch off the car, then try the cup of water over the rain sensor :)

as I said

if the battery has been disconnected and the windows have lost their basic settings they won't close with the rain closing

This ^^^^^

It doesn't do any harm but you most definitely do not need the stalk in auto. - at least on my FL Elegance you don't and as far as I remember my pre FL Elegance didn't need it to be on auto either. I know this because I never leave the wiper in auto and I know the auto close does work in rain and under test. Used to pi$$ off my former boss 'cos he was always sitting on his Audi key and opening the windows. He didn't believe that a mere Skoda could out-gadget his Audi so I showed him

Just need the car to be locked and the windscreen to be reasonably dry. It should then work immediately it starts raining. The detector works by measuring difference so if it is already wet then the windows won't close until it gets wetter. I guess it assumes that you won't leave your windows open if it is already raining.

Can I suggest that next time you test it, you do it on a dry sunny day (if we ever get one). Squirt water from a water pistol or let water run from a wet sponge onto the detector in the windscreen then watch the miracle - it will save you, and your seats getting wet :giggle:

The longer you leave it the more sensitive it should become too

tried pouring water on after locking, needs quite a bit

leave it for half an hour and it only needed a few drops

Did it on a dry sunny day as suugested and it did work, the windows closed immediately. If it stops again I will also bear in mind the window resetting, thank you all!
