Superb service on potential new purchase (2nd hand car)

Featured Replies

Hi, I have tried to search for the answer already in this forum but could not find anything. Even Google could not help me identify the service interval in KM on the Superb.

I have been offered a Superb (ex-company car) that has been serviced as follows:

First in traffic 2010-02-25.

service 1. 26485km on 2010-11-01

service 2. 56304km on 2011-08-22

service 3. 90380km on 2012-06-01

Does this mean the service interval is too long? (e.g. is 34076km between service 2 and service 3 too long??)

All of these were done at an Authorised Skoda Workshop. I heard somewhere that there is some breakdown assistance if the Superb has been serviced on time by an Authorized dealer. Is this is true?

The third service was done within a year after the second one. This car is most likely a long-distance cruiser. In that case I wouldn't worry about the service being done 4000 km after the normal 30.000.

Regarding the breakdown assistance: This may vary between countries. What does Skoda in your country say? What's on their website? Since your talking about km's instead of miles, I assume you're not from the UK. Where are you from?

Sweden. I think the service the car has had is quite satisfactory, but it is good to hear from others.

I`ve just bought a 2 and a half year old car and the service interval was set to every 18500 miles. Far too big a gap in my opinion so I had it reduced by the dealer to 10000 mile intervals. But it seems 18500 miles is the recommended interval

Variable is fine if you do the miles. If it's been dealer serviced you should be fine.

There are a number of members who have run their cars (skoda/vw/audio etc) onto more than double the total mileage you've put without any issues with the engine.

So long as you run the correct service regime for the mileage you do you'll be fine.

yes, I am rather optimistic about the car, the service, the price, and the total distance it has done. I just got to check all the 'electrics' and there are many of them I see :)

I have a friend with an Octavia (2.0 TDI) that has done almost 250,000km and it is still going strong.
