Hi there, Fabia Vrs owner from South west Scotland

Featured Replies

Hi , I am Dave, I own a sliver Diesel 2004 Fabia Vrs, great wee car .

I live in a small town called Castle Douglas, not handy for spares and I rely on the internet which is a pain if you need something right away, I also have a Ford Focus Diesel which I use every day, the Skoda only does around 4000 miles a years and is more of a toy, second car for the wife when she needs one.

I discovered this site when looking for advice on fitting the ARB bushes and drop links, you will see I have left a post in the forum, the car failed its mot on the drop links and headlight adjustment and got a lot of silly advisories, spare wheel soft, bulb not in front head light correctly, engine cover under tray hiding parts, rear calliper slightly seized, parking brake not good enough, front brake discs slightly worn, engine cover obscuring components in the engine bay, and one rear tyre was under 3mm.

Most of that work has been done but I have never heard of getting an advisory for a car having cover over and under the engine, the car came like that standard, is he trying to say the car is an mot fail from day one.

great site and so glad I found it

cheers

Dave :)

Welcome from a fellow Fabia vRS owner. :) I wouldn't be concerned in the slightest by advisories related to components which are obscured by engine covers etc. The MOT Test Manual now says: Because dismantling is not permitted, it is accepted that visual examination of some components which are enclosed by protective gaiters will not be possible.

Welcome.

My favourite part of Scotland down there - from Castle Douglas through to Glen Luce.

I also had a MKI Fabia vRS - previous owner was from D&G and it had a FSH from Dean of Dumfries (also original supplying dealer).
