Baker21's Superb Replacement 'Mini Detail'

Looking fantastic how do you find the Merc paint to work on? I'll be shortly changing the Octy for a C250 AMG sport plus saloon in the next few months in fire opal the solid red colour.

Just trying to decide what to use on it to get that dripping wet look on the paint.

I didn't complete any machining buddy on this as yet, the delivery condition wasn't bad but some of the marks I can see in the paintwork are from the Pre-PDI car wash they take it through :wall:

Rob and I detailed a solid red C-Class Saloon last year, as expected the paintwork is rock solid so as long as your buying it brand new you should be fine, we opted for Zaino in the end and it looks great :)

Not a fan of the AMG Sport Plus wheels though :( They will be a nightmare to keep clean :wall:

Did you go for a manual or an auto?

I'm having an auto, really like the C class, test drove it against a new 3 series and an A5 and it really felt the best car overall.

I like the sport plus wheels planning on putting a few coats of polish on them to hopefully keep some of the brake dust from sticking too much but im sure i'll be cursing them soon enough.

Looks great Simon

Whats the spec of the car?

The Merc looks awesome :)

Nice car. Like the alloys actually, and the seats. Good choice of colour too. Mercs always look better without the three pointed star bonnet post too.

I would suggest your apply a Ceramic Sealant to the wheels to make it easier for you to maintain as anything black can be a PITA to maintain :)

Thanks, it's a C250 CDI AMG Sport :)

These alloys are OK, although an inch bigger would be nicer, LOL!!! I was referring to the AMG Sport Plus wheels that I am not a fan of ;)

To be honest I wouldn't have minded the old three pointed star standing up on the bonnet :(

It's a bit of a shame its missing as its like the crosshair on an old biplane for running people over :)

Nice motor :)

Is AMG just a styling thing nowadays with Merc? I've seen more mercs with AMG badges which I really don't class as an AMG unless it has four exhaust pipes :D not really a fan of that, same thing with seat.

Thanks and the AMG brand is now filtering into a trim level on the Mercs of late, I personally agree with you but on this model there is no external in your face branding, it's only on the interior mats and wheels :)

I plan to de-badge the boot when I complete the 'New Car Detail' as I am not a fan of all the lettering and I am not fussed what engine people think is under the bonnet :)

Lovely choice - they've done well with the C-Class coupe.

Not really a Merc fan at all and I like this B)

Looks good, looking forward to letting you make mine look as nice!!

Congrats on the Merc Simon,

I do have to make an observation though

When I first saw the Superb some 6 years ago now it really made a statement, it could be because it's an underdog car, maybe just because it looked pimped,

But tbh and although the Merc is head and tails above the Skoda, the Skoda makes you look and think oh yeah, where the Merc will do for the right eyes, but mine still think the Skoda look has more impact, people will say the Mk2 is a better car and maybe it is, but ride wise (soft but elevated vs firm and lowdown) and classic look wise I still think the MK1 wins it hands down,

If you look at your pictures with the two together the Skoda still doesn't look like the servant.

Enjoy the new car and thx for showing what could be done for not a lot to make a nice looking car look like chick hook.

Looking forward to it also, I have not had a chance to have a proper look around a Fabia MK2 vRS before :)

Thanks for the comments and I understand what your saying, the Superb has more of a presence on the road and turns more heads than the Merc, it's just very nice to have the luxury at the moment of using both.

I will be sad to see it go, that's for sure ;)

Hey Simon - very nice - suit you sir! Thought i'd have a look at the pics after your FB post.

Enjoy matie!

Cheers,

Ste.

Kinda have to agree with posts above. Lovely Merc...but if I had the choice I'd choose the Superb. Just something about it. :)

I'm not saying I don't like the Merc, (I do!) but the Superb is just awesome!!

Good luck with the new car :)

Very nice indeed Simon.

Is this a company car? If yes, how much are you allowed to change? - Can you put your private plate on for example?

Thanks for the king words and I do understand your comments and let's face it the Superb is an interesting looking motor, I still very much enjoy driving it but it's been with me for over 7 years now and it's time to move on and put that chapter and 'Briskoda' behind me ;)

Very nice indeed Simon.

Cheers Rob and no it's not really, we have access to Scheme cars here so I thought, why not, I have also ordered another Merc last week as well, LOL!!

Number plate wise no we can't which is a bummer but I have a back up plan for that one :)

Hope you enjoy your new company car and also the sale of the A4 goes alright :)

I guess you figured out why I asked that question. It sounds like we might have the same plan.

I'm getting really stupid offers on my A4, tempted to keep it really. I will catch up with you outside of the thread so it stays OT.

Bloody Merc drivers.

Me too buddy, not long now, will be in touch shortly..........:)

Looks great. As said, I'm not a big Merc fan but that's one of the better colours that the C Coupe works in B)

They must be doing something right at the moment - I'm seeing new Mercs everywhere at the moment! Are they the new Audi??!
