Why is it oily and messy?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Around the dipstick, it's a little oily and messy, like there's oil squirting from somewhere.

What could be leaking/knackered?

Many thanks.

Cracked dipstick pipe? Or not fitted properly?

Or maybe the CCV is blocked and the pressure is forcing oil out the dipstick?

What is the CCV?

Crank Case Vent - it comes off the top of the rocker cover and vents the crank case into the inlet just after the MAF. You need to take the engine cover off to see it.

Split CCV/PCV pipes are common especially the ones below the intake manifold. When they spilt they spray oil around.

Could be your dipstick tube that carries the dipstick. This is plastic and locates to a metal tube on engine block. It gets very brittle over time due to the heat from engine and many folks can break this easy when doing and routine work around that area. they are quick cheap and easy to fit( need to push down hard to locate into metal tube)

Thanks for the great info guys, shall look into all after exams.

Could the split CCV/PCV pipe explain why acceleration is a little not smooth?
