1.9 tdi fuel problems

Featured Replies

hi all.

just wondering if anyone can give me any pointers on how to sort out my 120k bxe?, 1st of all im having trouble with my throttle body/anti shudder/air intake flap or whatever u wanna call it, it came up with the usual code for unoperative throttle motor and put the em light on

I swapped the unit but for a second hand 1and its made no difference, ive checked the fuse that I,m told blows with this problem too, could the one I fitted be naffed, or could it be a wiring fault?, also, I have developed a prob with the car going into limp mode occasionally at highish revs, this happen quite a while after the other prob (which I still have) so prob not related, this is saying turbo over boost, I also have what can only be described as a hiccup when going up thru gears, again I don't know if this has any connection to the other probs, has anyone any ideas where to start please?

thanks

gaz

Limp mode associated with turbo overboost is sticking turbo vanes. Either replace the turbo or carry out a Mr Muscle clean of the turbo.

As for your other problems, I'm not sure.

thanks for that, replace the turbo? that sounds expensive

It is! Even if you do the work yourself you can expect to pay the best part of £400 for a reconditioned turbo. But do a search on the Mr Muscle turbo clean procedure. It costs next to nothing and some people have reported good results.

stormchaser, your a star, thanks mate, hope I can help you 1 day, any ideas on the other stuff at all?

What I have read about these is the EGR would probally need a clean out at that mileage. Carb cleaner does the trick.

Also where the throttle pedal is the electrical connector can become dirty. Pedal is easy to remove and inspect.

Skoda also do a software update on these to cure hiccup/hesitation/shudder at 1800 rpm. Apparently it's smooth right through after this. Check with a dealer as there is a bulletin on BXE engines as I have the same.
