4x4 Parts - R32, Remap and thanks for the memories

Featured Replies

Hi folks

The skud's just gone to the breakers.

If anyone's interested Kilo Xray 51 Uniform Lima Zulu went to these guys: http://www.metrosalvage.co.uk/

Parts include:

VRS front brakes

ECU with APR remap

R32 front and rear ARBS

Golf GTi seats

CAI kit fitted with large K&N cone filter

Engine ran 'sweet as a nut' until a burglar crashed into the rear.

Thanks for all 7 years of top help and information.

If Skoda did a newer 4x4 that was fast enough and tune-able I'd've gone for it.

Went for a Subaru Forester in the end. Don't like it yet!

Take it easy every one!

I really like the forester.

My current Octavia II 1.8TSI 4X4 Estate is a worthy successor to the 2002 Octavia 1.8T 4X4 Estate I owned for over 9 years.. The latter was remapped by Jabbasport and delivered comfortably over 200bhp whereas the former is the standard 158bhp. But the 1.8TSI is a wonderfully smooth engine, would easily map to circa 200bhp, and is a very different driving experience. I am sorry your Octavia came to an untimely end and wish you well with the Forester. Let us know what you think of it once you have done a few miles in it.

Bad luck

I loath mine (forester that is)

Denis - Is the new Octavia as quick tho'?

The MK1 IIRC was something like 1450Kg - mine, remapped was much quicker than a lot of cars which I put down to a good remap and the bhp/ton ratio - I thought the MK2 is a fair bit heavier so I'd need to get 250bhp+ to feel/be as quick? 1.8 4x4's are pretty rare too.

I test drove a Legacy 3.0R which wasn't as quick and an S4 where there was nothing in it.

The Forester is faster but as my nan would say only by a 'gnat's ****'.

The Forester, what's awful?

- the driving position

- slippy seats

- parts choice, availability and cost

- onboard computer and fuel guage

- alarm system

Maybe the remap and exhaust will cheer me up once I make the decision to stick....

Did you not find the S4 a worthy contender? Take it you drove the 2.7 bi turbo. They are rapid and thought would out do a 4x4 octy no problem.

Sent from my Galaxy S3.

No I drove the 4.2V8. Granted it was quicker but only slightly.

Mine felt lighter and more sprightly. The R32 ARBs made a real difference as did a great remap and Shell Optimax.

Certainly in the real world I wouldn't be far behind.

Granted it's more luxurious but the extra £000's didn't get you much more.

It's hard to beat the bargain that the Skud was.

However, the 2.7 RS4 I drove was in a different league!
