I like our Sept 2010 1.6 TDI DSG......................but still taking legal advice re SOGA

There's been an unofficial recall in Australia today by VW after lots of issues reported and someone being killed when they went to overtake and were hit head on by a lorry due to a mechatronics failure half way through the manoeuvre!

Strangly enough

I would be unlikely to necessarily assume the DSG was primarily to blame for that death in Australia.

More likely a highly risky overtaking manouver that went wrong.

Perhaps due to a panicked driver interfering or attempting to switch modes?

Though I am aware in Nth America of "false neutrals" being selected during normal driving, probably due to either faulty wiring loom or overheated clutch packs (=driver abuse)

I will however, Yeti, copy your helpful post to my soliciter, after yet another internet search regarding this occurance in Australia.

And again yesterday, coming in the tradesman's entrance to the house.

Flat, perhaps even slight downwith, met a bloke I wished to speak to, pulled car over slightly so nearside wheel on the grass, and pulled the strangler.

Came back some time later to put the car under cover for the night.

jumped in, absently mindedly, on autopilot.

Twigged that (after disengaging parking brake) my foot was slowely depressing throttle pedel, without ANY commensurate effect on the engine revs.

Held throttle foot steady.

Snicked selector into neutral.

Revs rose to 2,500.

Switched all off and started over.

Exactly the same performance.

Again, up to 2500 revs from tick-over when snicked into neutral.

NOTE

This was attempting to pull away without the constraints of an incline or indeed any other traffic to worry about.

Definately a gremlin/glitch/software issue.

cheers

Well, I  finally took the Octavia to an Independant Motor Engineer (near Bradford)

He has furnished me with a report stating the car is unsatisfactory/could be unsafe, for onward transmission to Skoda UK.

Wish me luck.

Ps

He got a lovely T5 van, A/C, DSG, cruise control 180BHP and 4Motion forby. You name it........it got it.

He was so proud of it he took me for a spin, then  insisted i drive it.

He also seemed impressed that I recognised his S2000 Honda for what it was.

eh What!

And strangely enough, Skoda UK have now re-revised their opinion and I am to take the car back for furthur investigation/remedial work.

The seemingly endless saga continues.

PS

This confirms the substance of my very first complaint, that Howard Abrahams did not even investigate the car the first time it was in.

Cos iffen they hadda.

The "gateway" fault code was there to be read.

Strange that!

Oh, Er!

Been a while.

First off Skoda WERE going to "fix" the DSG fault, the car was in for a brief explaortary session.

Fault described back to me as "a brief hesitation in pulling away"

Spoke to Skoda UK

Got the same deliberate "mis reporting/deliberate misdescription" of the fault by Skoda UK staff.

Blew a gasket and wrote to Alastair Stewart MD Skoda UK,  and sent recorded Del.

**** apparently hit the fan.

Nett result

a Ph Call saying my car DSG transmission did NOT need fixed, and the already booked repair date was cancelled.

Back to the Solicieier and Barrister . . . not feedback yet.

BUT

Our car now booked  in for DSG transmission oil change on a RECALL basis.

A proper fornicating shambles.

And I am currently out an abs min £1500.00, going on £2,500.00 for engineers report and legal fees!
