I Finally Saw An Octy III In The Flesh!

Featured Replies

Saw one parked up walking to the beech the other day. I have to say guys, all of you who have one or have ordered one, nice motor!

You will also be thrilled to hear that it now officially has the FUBAR wave of approval. :hi:

Now ........ to VRS or not to VRS, that is my own personal question? The FL only has 12K on it ffs!

VRS, but TSI this time buddy, not like you are doing the miles to need diesel!

Dropped my Scout in at the dealers on Monday and just inside the door was a MkIII TDI Elegance Estate, and very nice it looked too!

Didn't have time to go sit in it or have a detailed look inside and out, but a quick walk around it and look inside and it seems a very nice car.... if you like that sort of thing! :)

TSi was only £400 cheaper than CR TDi so I have saved that fuel money back already :p

Saw my first Octavia on the road yesterday afternoon, silver, on the M27. Looked very sleek.

I saw my first octy3 today..........................only it was a Rapid!!!!!!!!

My local dealer had a rapid and new Octavia in the showroom, both light blue, I had to go to the back to check which was which. I challenge anyone to correctly identify either from the side in isolation at a distance of 50 feet.

That's easy, the window line of the rapid stays flat whereas the octy kicks up at the rear quarterlight !

That's what I look for!

The Octavia 3 is only a Big Rapid, not for me I'm afraid. Unless the Vrs body kit floats my boat

You have obviously not sat in both cars one after the other, the quality of the octy blows the rapid out of the park imo!

Totally wrong, comparing the two cars is like comparing chalk and cheese. I might get flamed here for saying this but to me the Rapid is a car with a reasonably styled exterior but the interior is simply ghastly, with an appallingly low budget fascia and fittings, very reminiscent of a 1990's Toyota or Nissan. An utterly unappealing and drab car IMO. The Rapid is more the size of car that I need but I would never ever buy one.

technically that couldn't be further from the truth. Externally they do look very similar. Inside packaging, space and ambience are very different indeed. As a low cost option though its a good looking practical option. :)

The Octavia 3 looks like a oversize Rapid and I'm not keen on the shape. Lets hope the Vrs looks better with a body kit

Externally very similar I'll grant you but a lot sleeker. On the inside, which is what you see most of the time the Octavia might as well have been built by a different manufacturer, it is hugely superior. Don't quite understand why, you look at Audi or VW and the quality of the interiors of an A1 and A3 or Polo and Golf the quality is consistent. Maybe this is a reason why you don't see many Rapids on the road

I totally agree about the Interiors but the outside is not good looking. When the Rapid was launch my local dealer had a demo. 1.2 petrol fully loaded and I mean loaded and it was a tad shy of 23K......For a Rapid..............Never in a million years.

Shoudn't think even Stevie Wonder would buy it

Had a look at a few, love the bonnet line and that pressing behind the rear number plate that looks a bit like an envelope! I intend to wait a few months and get a used one , or maybe leave Skoda and go for a KIA Optima!

M5 south 940 am by gloucester transporter full of octi's so some lucky people getting there's soon !

People don't buy Skodas because of their styling - they buy them for more important reasons, but, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and IMO the Octavia is no prettier or uglier than any other similar large cars with the possible exception of Citroen or Peugeot - not that I'd have a bucket of bolts like those as a gift, thank you!
