Quite Alarming

Featured Replies

SWMBO is having a spot of bother with her cherished Fabia 1.4 16v Elegance.

She has had the car for a couple of trouble free years now and loves it to bits, but the other evening (for no apparent reason) the alarm went off. Nobody around the car, no doors or windows open or smashed, no kids playing in the street, WTF. Thought no more of it untill the next evening about the same time, off it went again, same conditions.

Anyone else had anything like this happen. Took it to the dealers this morning I just wanted to hit him, nuff said. Chocolate Teapot and all that.

Any help/ideas much appreciated.

It's due to the hot weather and as the air inside the car cools, it can trigger the alarm I think. Interior sensor can be disabled with an extra bleep of the remote's lock if it keeps going off :D

Get her to run the aircon on warm for a bit before locking it up and also get her to shut the vents.

It's the change in cabin air pressure that causes it after a hot day.

 Agree - hot weather always causes problems with alarms for a variety of reasons. All I would advise is that you check that all the obvious stuff (like all windows / doors / sunroof) are properly shut ... then turn off the interior sensor if it still goes off. TBH almost every dealer I have ever dealt with (including specialist alarm places) struggles to rectify alarm problems at this time of year - I wouldn't even bother trying to get them to find the problem.

Concur with my learned friends. ;)

Also....as you know....makes sure no interior lights are on...particular the one on the boot.

Word up.

Could also check to see if you have any bottles of water in the car. They tend to expand/contract when left in the car and the temp changes. This could set the alarm off too
