Window switch panel

Featured Replies

Another one :D

If you have a dodgy drivers window switch on the drivers door assembly, do you need to replace the whole unit, or do you think its possible to replace just that one switch? I have a 2 button switch in the shed with a broken passenger switch, but working drivers switch. Not sure if I would be able to affect a swap of the drivers window switch only?

otherwise I need to go hunting for an elegance switch panel, which could be quite rare given it does the electric back windows too.

LMAO, I've got one with a dodgy drivers switch and a working passenger one, want me to double check tomorrow? You can have it if it's working ;)

yeah, go on then :D

I just went out to the shed and couldn't find the one I thought I had. I think I threw it out, gutted. :( This is why I usually hoard crap like this - you never know when you might need it!

I'll have a look in my cupboard of crap tomorrow, Jay. Might be able to cobble something together

The switch is a rocker which makes contact on the circuit board. You may be able to clean the contacts otherwise it will most likely be a new unit. I think the Octavias use the same switches? May be easier to find one of them

You can feel in the switch its just not making contact right - feels "squishy" instead of precise, if that makes sense.

The switch is also used in the Passat, labeled "Made in Australia" . More easily available in scrappies.

you need to check your inbox and search the South Cental meets for West Meon Hut #3 :)

Would be really interested to find out if cleaning or replacing did the job. Does the switch still work the windows up and down correctly or only sometimes.

I won't know but gather it went through a "tempremental" stage before giving up totally. You can feel when moving the switch that it's shot.

Mine is going the same way :( have to hold it for a bit then it works. Only going down though, comes back up fine

Lots and lots on ebay.

£15 or less.

Thinking about it. They have plastic pins too which activate them.

I have a spare that I can try to get pics of when its open

Here's some pics of the disassembled window switch panel.

I hope they help

Thanks all. I have seen some sub £10 on Ebay, usually from Bora / mk4 golf as they share the same part number. I cannot get the little tiny screws undone from the back of my switch, so I am just going to get another in. Should be OK in the long run and I don't fancy messing with the internals. Although saying that, I might if its broken anyway. Just weird my tiny electrical screwdriver torx bit doesn't go in. I think its a different type of hex fitting. Electrical specific.

from memory, they are Torx, small, but Torx heads.

I have two tiny torx screwdrivers, one was a bit too big and the other felt like it was the right size but it just span. It almost looks like it needs a torx with a bit of a crosshead style angle on it, with a point. Very odd.

They are a t6 torx. Very odd size
