Excellent link cheers bud :) i never realised the gasket was metal :/ think i could use other material to make one?

Some pictures from the time when I did mine. Position 11 on the diagram is where I put the gasket (you can see this in the engine picture). At 9mm (as supplied) the engine management light would come on occasionally if I drove in maximum economy mode (like a granny), but it would go off again when driven normally. I expanded it to 10.5mm which seemed the best compromise. The "official" Skoda fix which was later withdrawn due to high NOx emissions was 14mm, but this did not eradicate the stutter.

Glad i could help out mate :)

Blanco! Did you use your gasket with the steel one or on its own? Fitting Bowens and just wondered if you used both as its not an ally one.

But now I think about it, being a steam pipe gasket sheet it should be fine on its own?

I just used the gasket i made on its own mate, can easily handle the temp.

Well, small update. Had my home made gasket on for over 3000 miles and still running sweet :) glad the flat spot has gone as it was a pain in the ass!

No worries bud :) when i first fitted it i wasn't expecting much but the difference it made the the way it drives put a big smile on my face :) i don't know how the chick who owned it before me put up with it!

Can't believe this small change made so much difference, not only eliminated the judder at 1800rpm but made it a more pleasant drive all round.

As Blanco says don't know how the previous owner stuck it only had the car a week & it was getting on my wick.
