Installing Forge VAG 6 speed short shift kit

Featured Replies

Greetings,

Just wanted to pass along an issue I had when installing the Forge adjustable short shift kit FMVWSQS and FMVWQS. My car is a 2012/13 Octavia VRS Blackline so I am fairly sure this applies to any recent vintage Octavia variants.

First to remove the stock part and install the side shift part FMVWSQS there is not enough room unless the two bolts are taken out of the flange on top of the gearbox and then the flange can be rotated to allow this to happen. Easy enough.

The bigger issue is once both parts are in and you are ready to go there is a clearance issue between the parts that makes in nearly impossible to shift to fifth and sixth gear. Solved by grinding both pieces down where they interfere (sorry no pics, did this last weekend and decided today to pass on this info). All simple enough as long as you know ahead of time.

Having said all of the above the kit is in and working a treat.

Happy days.

Rick

Any pics?

seems like a bit of a faff - i'd be pretty ****ed off if i had to take a grinder to a brand new part to make it fit.

glad your pleased with the result. I'm happy with the TTS short shifter - fits and looks oem and cheap as chips - glad I didn't get the forge based on your experience with it..

Agree with Rob's comments. The TT short shifter was a good upgrade on my TSI and very easy to do, albeit a faf on taking the air box out.
